Attorneys Cunningham and Busher return to teach class focusing on appellate practice at the University Of Connecticut Law School for the sixth year.

Attorneys Cunningham and Busher, partners with the firm, have completed teaching a class at the University Of Connecticut School Of Law during January of 2013.  The class focused on Connecticut appellate law and procedure, including oral argument and appellate brief writing.  This was the sixth consecutive year of teaching this class.  The class runs five weeks and is part of UConn Law’s inter-term.  The students are usually in their first or second year of classes.

Attorney Cunningham grew up in Ellington and currently resides in West Hartford. Attorney Cunningham handles personal injury and litigation matters throughout the State of Connecticut.  Attorney Cunningham has been a member of the Connecticut bar for 15 years. She obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree from Brigham Young University in 1986 and a Masters degree from Trinity College in 1991, before graduating from the University Of Connecticut School Of Law with her Doctorate of Jurisprudence in 1995, where she also received the American Jurisprudence Award for Excellence in Administrative Law. Since joining the firm in 1995, Attorney Cunningham’s practice has concentrated in the litigation of tort claims involving construction accidents, motor vehicle accidents, premises liability and medical malpractice. She has successfully defended numerous employment discrimination claims brought in both the Superior Court and before the Commission on Human Rights and Opportunities. A member of the Appellate Practice Group, Attorney Cunningham has also researched and drafted numerous appellate motions and briefs. Attorney Cunningham has received a BV rating from Martindale-Hubbell (High to Very High legal ability rating and Very High general ethical standards rating).

Attorney Busher, a partner with the firm, was recently named to the New England Super Lawyers list, in its annual listing of outstanding lawyers who have attained a high degree of peer recognition and professional achievement.  The listing will appear in the New England Super Lawyers magazine, covering Connecticut, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Vermont, Maine and New Hampshire.  Only five percent of the attorneys in these states are chosen for inclusion each year. As a partner with Jackson O’Keefe, Attorney Busher practices throughout the state with offices in East Haddam, Hartford and Southington.  His practice has concentrations in estate planning, wills, personal injury, insurance coverage and appellate law.  He has argued or briefed over 40 appellate cases before the Connecticut and federal appeals courts.  He serves as a guest lecturer on the law at Nathan Hale-Ray High School in East Haddam, is a member of The Connecticut Consortium for Law and Citizenship Education, Inc., and also serves as an Adjunct Instructor at the University of Connecticut School of Law, where he teaches appellate practice.  He resides in East Haddam with his wife, Louise, and children, Olivia and Joseph.
