The dog attack occurred on Sunday January 12, 2014 at a Marriott Residence Inn in Mystic, at about 3:00 pm. The dog is described as a large, black pit bull.  The attack occurred in a hallway.  A responding police officer was also attacked, and shot the dog without killing it at that time.  The female victim was described in press reports as being severely injured.  The dog was taken away by an animal control officer; it was reportedly taken to a vet for treatment.
