In a court trial, the plaintiff was a high school student who had been struck without provocation or warning by a fellow student.  The plaintiff allegedly sustained a broken jaw and was unable to fully participate in high school graduation.  He also had lost wages in the amount of $500.00.  Medical expenses totaled $28,319.00.  The defendant had previously paid $25,000.00 in restitution and the plaintiff’s medical bills were largely paid by collateral sources.  The court awards $477.00 for noneconomic damages and $100,000.00 for pain and suffering.  Randolph v. Malangone, CV13-6013420 (Stephens, J.) (12/05/16)
