Category: Auto Accidents

The accident happened about 2:34 p.m. in the area of exit 14on Interstate 91, in Wallingford. A garbage truck rolled over and came to rest on the right shoulder.  No other vehicles appear to have been involved based on the limited information available.

The driver died and a passenger was taken to an area hospital with injuries.
The cause of the accident is not clear based on news reports to date.

Possibilities to be investigated would include non-contact vehicles (which for example could have caused the truck to take evasive action) and/or truck driver negligence.

From the perspective of a passenger as an innocent victim, possible claims could be asserted against the estate of the driver of the truck as well as possible underinsured or uninsured claims if there was a “force-and-run” non-contact vehicle involved.

From the perspective of the truck driver’s estate, possible underinsured or uninsured claims based upon a “force-and-run” non-contact vehicle should be investigated.

Insurance policy requirements in force-and-run accidents can be very specific and counter-intuitive.  Noncompliance can result in the loss of such coverage.
